The REALL Academy, brought to you by Create and Educate, LLC and hosted by the Leadership DoctHers, Dr. Sheka Houston and Dr. Tammy Taylor, will be joining the SHP Media and Broadcasting Family on the FAM TV Plus Network on Roku, Channel VP 1006.
The collaboration of The Two Doctors comes together each week with leaders, teachers, educators, parents, and community members from around the world to solve problems in education that prevent the dreaded crash and burn with REALL solutions using the REALL Resilience Framework.
REALL stands for: R(Respect) E(Excellence) A(Accountability) L(Literacy) & L(Leadership) and is being used to transform schools, homes, and organizations across the United States.
About the Hosts
Dr. Sheka Houston is a best-selling contributing author of Women Who Lead in Education Featuring School Principals, Volume 3, 2nd edition. She is also the co-founder of Create and Educate, LLC, an educational consulting firm that offers school success strategies around their resilience framework. These strategies have been proven to positively impact school culture, literacy, and math achievement, specifically for African-American students, and leadership practices. Their coaching model is unique in that it starts with the leader, transcends to the teacher, and then to the student. Create and Educate founders are not just providing success strategies to leaders, schools, and districts, but using their platform to elevate the success stories of schools of promise, that are not often heard.
Dr. Houston has 22 years of experience in
education with experience in charter school start-ups, as well as, STEAM implementation, and school turnaround. In addition, her leadership at the school level led to the school being the recipient of the South Carolina Palmetto Silver Award for academic growth. The school also moved two report card grade levels in one year and won the Palmetto State Arts Education Steam School of Excellence Award. Dr. Houston has also been awarded the honor of serving as Teacher of the Year for her district before transitioning to her roles in leadership.
Dr. Houston’s community involvement includes serving on the Board of Girls on the Run, Tri-County, South Carolina, serving on the advisory boards for Chester 4-H Clemson Extension, and the Medical University of South Carolina. She also teaches preschool children at her church and is a member of the Chester (SC) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Finally, Dr. Houston and her husband of 25 years, Jerry, have two beautiful daughters, Elizabeth and Isabella who are truly her inspirations, as she leads and inspires through the lens of a mom.
