By Vision & Purpose LifeStyle Magazine and Media Digital Team | Wednesday, January 22, 2025 | 4:50 PM ET

The hit podcast Two Funny Mamas, part of the Mocha Podcasts Network and co-hosted by award-winning comedians, actresses, and TV personalities Sherri Shepherd and Kym Whitley, is celebrating its third NAACP Image Award nomination. The podcast earned recognition for its episode titled The Legacy of Martha’s Vineyard, featuring Stephanie Rance, co-founder of the iconic Run & Shoot Filmworks Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival (MVAAFF). In this episode, Shepherd and Whitley explore the history and cultural significance of MVAAFF, which has become a cherished tradition for generations of African Americans visiting the island to connect and celebrate.

On Two Funny Mamas, Shepherd (also the host of the Emmy Award-winning talk show Sherri) and Whitley combine their comedic talents to create a podcast that resonates with audiences through discussions about culture, sisterhood, motherhood, and the lives of working women. Their candid conversations tackle a range of topics, including life, love, parenting, relationships, pop culture, dating, and even the ups and downs of sex—or the lack thereof. Known for its humor and authenticity, the podcast has already garnered two NAACP Image Awards: "Outstanding Lifestyle and Self-Help" in 2022 and "Arts & Entertainment" in 2023. Produced by Chris Denman and Mid Coast Media Group, LLC, and executive produced by Sheila Eldridge, the podcast continues to thrive on the Mocha Podcasts Network.

The MVAAFF, founded by Stephanie Rance and her husband Floyd, has been a beacon for storytellers of color for over 22 years. Drawing thousands of attendees annually, this prestigious film festival on Martha’s Vineyard provides a platform for both emerging and established African American filmmakers to showcase, screen, and promote their work. From feature films to documentaries and short films, the festival celebrates diverse narratives and highlights the richness of Black storytelling from around the globe.

Voting ends on February 7, 2025. To vote or for more information, visit Naacpimageawards.net.
