Mo Clark, Journalist and Public Relation Specialist

Mo Clark is no stranger to transformation. As a journalist and public relations specialist, she has built her career on the foundation of vision and purpose, navigating both personal and professional changes with grace and resilience. From embracing the dynamic shifts in the media industry to rebranding her own media and marketing agency, DaPostUp Media, LLC, Mo continues to inspire and make her mark.

In a world where challenges often become roadblocks, Mo views them as stepping stones toward self-discovery and impact. Her journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, faith, and staying grounded in purpose. Whether she’s guiding clients to elevate their brands or empowering others to embrace their own paths, Mo’s story is one of courage, community, and a vision for a brighter future.

Her mission? To connect, uplift, and create meaningful change — one story, one relationship, and one opportunity at a time.

As a media professional, what is your perspective on the current state of the media industry — its challenges, opportunities, and evolution? With that in mind, what is your vision for the future of the industry, and how do you see yourself contributing to shaping it?

Some say that the media industry is over saturated. I honestly don’t see it as such. I think it’s a blessing that we no longer have to wait to be put on, you can literally start your own brand in media. The journalism field is different because people can literally put themselves on and start their own brands. There’s a lot of clickbait, but I personally don’t care for that. It’s honestly no different from when we were younger and stood at the grocery store and saw The National Enquirer, it’s just digital now. I think the future is bright because there are so many talented creatives coming up now.

In a field as dynamic as public relations and journalism, constant change is inevitable. How do you navigate the shifting landscapes of your industry while maintaining your personal growth and sense of purpose? Additionally, how do the lessons you’ve learned from your professional journey influence the way you handle changes in your personal life?

I deal with clients in all different fields. Entrepreneurs, small business owners, creatives, and more. I come from corporate where things are ALWAYS changing, so learning to pivot in day to day has helped. What I have learned is to keep going. Sometimes when you’re dealing with personal challenges, navigating can be hard, especially when you’re in the public eye. It can literally be the ones closest to us scrutinizing everything we do or post, and it’s hard. I’ve learned to keep going though, because while those we love claim they “only want the best for us”, how do they actually KNOW what’s best for “us”. I’ve learned to just keep going and on your “not so best” days, so to speak, UNPLUG. Having business lines and personal emergencies lines are key. Everybody doesn’t need access to you.

What have been some of the most significant challenges you’ve faced while transitioning between different career paths?

Honestly, for me, it’s wanting people to accept my change or be supportive. You really don’t always get the support you feel like you need. In fact, some try to make your growth difficult. My walk with GOD, although I’m not close to perfect is teaching me that eventually, the right people will come into your life and support you. You won’t have to lie or be manipulative. You’ll simply be able to show up authentically as yourself. Prayer changes things.

Any news you can share with us about your media and marketing agency, DaPostUp Media, LLC?

I’m actually going through a rebranding phase and I’m super excited about it. It’s always good to analyze your own brand and find out your needs. Although my goal has always been to help others get themselves out here more, moving forward I can not help those that don’t want to help themselves. It’s never been about the money because I truly support the small business owners, but they have to be willing to invest in themselves. If that’s getting a good quality photo shoot, then do it. If that’s getting comfortable speaking in front of others, then do it. Start anyway. Do it anyway. So I just really plan on focusing on people who are really ready to work.

In what ways have your various roles allowed you to give back to your community or support the next generation of entrepreneurs?

I have a good friend who’s always been supportive, literally of everything I do. Whatever business venture I’m on, she’s on it with me. Because of her dedication, she’s earned my trust. I support her in everything she does, even when she doesn’t know where to start. I remember that stage, and granted there are still things I could learn. I thank GOD for placing a few angels in my life who really want to see me win. It’s not about what they can get out of me, more so how can we help each other win. Because I’ve had the pleasure of encountering a few good people, I pay it back and I pay it forward. I may not be rich, but I’m wealthy. Knowledge is wealth. If I can pour in to someone and teach them something I’ve learned, that’s success for me.

As someone who wears many hats, what does “purpose” mean to you at this stage in your career?

That’s a great question! Actually because I discuss it a lot. I feel like when GOD gives you so many gifts and talents, it’s your PURPOSE. I won’t even stop there though. I rededicated my life back to GOD in December of 2023 and I recently was rebaptized in November of 2024. When I get calls from friends saying, “what church you go to” or “pray for me or with me”, I consider that purpose as well. I don’t care about materialistic things. They are nice. Big houses, fancy cars, all that, it’s cool. Honestly, leading my friends back to GOD and inspiring them to have a closer relationship with GOD, that’s where my glory is truly going to come from. When we leave this earth, we can’t take all that fancy stuff and fame with us.

What upcoming projects or goals are you most excited about, and how do they align with your vision?

I’m just excited about walking in my purpose and embracing life more. I’m finally ready to like really travel and embrace interviewing people all over. I’m ready to expand my brand and venture out more, network more, make more connections and connect more people. There are seriously so many talented people and the only thing standing in between them and their big break is a blank space. I’m looking forward to bridging the gap. I know GOD is going to do it for me and I’m so honored that HE does things in supernatural time. I know that I’ll get a chance to be a vessel for so many people. In 2025 I just pray for GREAT discernment and divine alignment because I want to be surrounded by people who aren’t self serving. I want to be around people I can worship with AND win with.

For women who are navigating their own professional and personal transitions, what advice would you offer to help them stay grounded in their purpose?

The advice I would give them right now is the same thing I would say to myself right now; “Keep going no matter what. Always find reasons to be thankful. A win is a win, no matter how big or small. Count your blessings, because even the losses aren't really losses, they were just things that needed to go to make room for something bigger and better. Take mental health days, tap back in, and get in touch with your faith and your purpose. The moments when you start feeling fear, doubt, and negativity creeping up, start praying”.
