Lupus Awareness Month: Maya McCullough Honors Her Late Daughter With Inaugural Walk For Jaz’Min Lupus Charity Walk

By Tammy Reese | Saturday, May 25, 2024 | 12:30 PM ET

May is Lupus Awareness Month, a time dedicated to shedding light on a disease that impacts millions globally. Lupus, a lifelong autoimmune condition, can significantly affect daily life, yet with proper management, individuals can lead fulfilling lives. To honor Lupus Awareness Month and the memory of a young lupus warrior, Jaz’Min Boatwright, her family is proud to announce the inaugural Walk For Jaz’Min Lupus Charity Walk. Jaz’Min Boatwright bravely battled lupus before succumbing to complications of the disease on October 24, 2022, at the tender age of 11. In celebration of what would have been her 13th birthday on June 5th, her family is organizing the Walk For Jaz’Min Lupus Charity Walk on June 9th, 2024. This heartfelt event will take place at Long Branch Park (3813 Long Branch Road) in Liverpool, NY 13090, running from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM EST.

The Walk For Jaz’Min aims to raise awareness about lupus and highlight the lack of resources in communities of color while honoring Jaz’Min’s legacy and passion for making a difference. The charity walk will feature a range of engaging activities, including a walk, resource offerings, and raffles, with proceeds supporting the Lupus Foundation of America. Jaz’Min Boatwright was not just a lupus warrior; she admired Harriet Tubman and was a budding entrepreneur with her jewelry creation business. Her spirit and legacy continue to inspire those who knew her and the broader community. For more information about the Walk For Jaz’Min Lupus Charity Walk or to inquire about sponsorship opportunities, please contact Maya McCullough, family spokesperson, and Jaz’Min Boatwright’s mother, at 315–520–3573.
