Introducing hairstylist of over 19 years, hair salon owner of over 9 years, and the CEO/ Founder of The Dream Team Hair & Beauty Professional Hair Products, Bernadette Patterson. In addition to being a hair and beauty mogul, Bernadette is also a rap artist with the stage name B-Rawz for over 10 years.
August celebrates National Black Business Month, we are overjoyed to spotlight the success of Bernadette Patterson as a Black woman entrepreneur.
How is business these days?
Bernadette: I have been getting new clients while maintaining my old clients so business has been doing well.
Congratulations on The Dream Team Hair & Beauty Pop Up Entertainment Shop Event which will be held in September. Please tell us the backstory of how this event was created.
Bernadette: The Dream Team Hair & Beauty Professional Hair Products was first created on September 18th, 2020. So I decided to do my event in September. I had a vision of how I wanted my event to be to showcase all the talents that I have. Then I made phone calls to see what venue worked best for my vision and budget. I was trying to look for the right venue for a while. While I was looking I was making other contacts to see who would be interested in participating in the event.
I decided to contact a woman that is on Magic 106.9FM radio station. I told her my vision and she helped me find a venue that worked great. Once I met the woman who owns the venue and got everything squared away I then contacted the host, photographer, videographer, etc., and told them about the venue location. After I got the venue I contacted entertainers and vendors to see if they wanted to participate in the event. I created four different group pages on Messenger so I could talk to everyone in that group at one time. I also created an Eventbrite page https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-dream-team-hair-beauty-pop-up-entertainment-shop-tickets-660271769637?aff=oddtdtcreator so people can buy tickets online. I have the vendor group, entertainment group, staff group, and hair show group.
Since The Dream Team Hair & Beauty Brand colors are Black and Gold… I would like everyone who’s participating and who’s coming to the event to wear Black & Gold or Black or Gold Formal Wear.
I decided to create this event to celebrate my 3rd year Anniversary of having my own hair product line. My purpose for this event is to let more people know about The Dream Team Hair & Beauty Professional Hair Products and the hairstyles I can do using the hair products by showing off my hairstyles on my hair models when I do my hair show. My hair show is going to have a twist. The twist is that I will be rapping while I’m doing the hair show and my hair models are going to do a little bit of acting.
I’m showing off all my talents in one event. I love helping others so I want to promote other entrepreneurs and entertainers as well. I’m going to have a vendor section for other entrepreneurs and I’m going to have entertainment for artists that want to display their talent.
Are you partnering with any other entities or is this a solo-produced event?
Bernadette: This is a solo-produced event. But I connected with other people that will help everyone that is participating get more publicity.
What does it mean for you and your community to have this event?
Bernadette: We are all coming together to make something great happen. Which is unity, building brands, and promoting talent.
What are some of your favorite hair and beauty services you provide to your clients?
Bernadette: I do a large variety of different styles on clients. However, what I love the most is protective styles to help maintain healthy hair along with using The Dream Team Hair & Beauty Professional Hair Products. If you decide to put heat on your hair I have a Flat Iron Thermal Defense Spray that protects your hair from heat. Any new hair and beauty trends we should know about that you recently came across?
Bernadette: A new trend I do on my clients is the Knotless Goddess Braids. Another beautiful protective style I do for my clients is to help maintain healthy hair.
What else is on your heart to share with our readers today?
Bernadette: If you have a business and would like to put an ad in a booklet to support The Dream Team Hair & Beauty Pop Up Entertainment Shop 3rd Anniversary Event you can send me pictures and information about your business. It is a $25.00 quarter-size page, $50.00 half page & $100.00 whole page. You will receive a booklet for free and pamphlets will be passed out to everybody at the event for free. If you’re interested you can message me your information via Email: thedreamteamhairandbeauty@gmail.com.
Then I will send you a payment link.
What does the rest of the year look like for you and your company?
Bernadette: I have a new hair product coming out this year and I will be working on my next event for next year with more added to the event so stay tuned.
