As the new year dawns, Lifetime introduces an inspiring and transformative journey with its latest original docuseries, The 6000 lb. Diaries with Dr. Now. Premiering Monday, January 6, 2025, at 9 PM ET/PT, the series follows ten individuals who have collectively reached a staggering weight of 6,000 pounds. With their lives hanging in the balance, these brave individuals are turning to world-renowned bariatric surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzaradan—known affectionately as Dr. Now—to help them embark on a life-saving transformation.

Set against the backdrop of Dr. Now's acclaimed medical facility in Houston, Texas, this 10-episode, two-hour-long series offers an unfiltered, raw look into the lives of those at a critical lose-or-die point. Through deeply personal diary footage and heartfelt confessions, viewers will witness the emotional, physical, and psychological challenges faced by individuals striving to reclaim their health and futures.

More Than a Weight-Loss Journey

At its core, The 6000 lb. Diaries is about more than shedding pounds—it's about overcoming emotional eating, addressing deep-seated trauma, and rebuilding a life that feels worth living. Each episode shines a spotlight on one person’s story, chronicling their struggles, breakthroughs, and ultimate triumphs. The series is both intimate and inspiring, offering a glimpse into the resilience of the human spirit.

“Dr. Now has a proven ability to authentically engage with audiences by telling the extraordinary stories of his patients fighting to change their lives,” said Elaine Frontain Bryant, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming for A&E, Lifetime, and LMN. “We are delighted to welcome Dr. Now to Lifetime and know that our audience will connect with this inspiring series, which reinforces our holistic commitment to first-rate unscripted programming.”
